Carlos Velazquez passed away in October. He worked as a Painter in the Facilities Division at Christiansted National Historic Site for 26 years and 8 months. Carlos was always known for his wonderful sense of humor, life advice, and of course eating Pate! Carlos was always willing to take on additional duties to keep the grounds at CHRI looking good and being presentable. Carlos enjoyed watching the Park visitors relaxing on the grounds and walking through the Park. Carlos always made people smile at work, and would listen to anyone who needed to talk about their day. Carlos enjoyed fishing, going to the beach with his grandchildren, and spending time with his wife. His family said he ALWAYS had his NPS hat on, form the time he got up to go to work, until the time he went to bed at the end of the day. His family asked that he even be buried with his NPS hat. Carlos was certainly a part of the NPS family in Christiansted for his entire career. He will be truly missed, especially for his smile and for laughing even in the toughest of times.
