Meet the Volunteers-In-Parks (VIPs)—
Helping to Care for Special Places and Connect People with their Parks

Please join us Thursday October 11th, 2018 at 5:30 pm at the Danish West India and Guinea Company Warehouse at Christiansted National Historic Site

VIPs work side-by-side with National Park Service employees and partners in parks all over the US and here on St. Croix as well. Did you know that there are 390 national parks throughout the US and its territories? Whether working behind the scenes or with park visitors, VIPs make a huge difference and there’s plenty of opportunities to go around.

Volunteers-in-Parks play an ever-increasing role in national parks doing a variety of jobs that require a wide variety of talents, skills, and abilities. VIPs on St. Croix represent the NPS, work in unique settings, help to preserve the island’s natural and cultural legacy, and help visitors discover the resources, meanings, and values found in our parks.

Hear from Gregory Camacho, Deputy Superintendent, Benito Vegas, Ranger, Interpretation & Education, and some of his VIPs like Jan Butler, Ivan Butcher, Joyce Francis, Mirza Lampe, Mary Roebuck, and Charles Stith.

Theresa Harper will also be on hand with details about the 30th Annual St. Croix Triathlon, starting and finishing at the Christiansted National Historic Site on Sunday, December 2.
